Data collection and site visits to the original HELWAN wastewater collection trunk mains, pump stations, main conveying culverts and the Arab Abo Saied WWTP HELWAN were conducted. Verification of served population, generated wastewater flows in addition to assessment of the existing facilities capacities and conditions was carried out. Scenarios of project development were thoroughly discussed followed by the assessment of the cost of the project components after preliminary design and sizing was done. Incorporation of the required projects for AL SAff canal to accommodate the additional expected treated wastewater and the relevant projects were also assessed.
The financing agencies AFD, EIB are requesting updating of a feasibility study to address the cost of the required finance for conducting the upgrading of HELWAN collection and treatment components in addition to the re use capacity of Al Saff canal to accommodate the additional generated wastewater at HELWAN territory assumed at 250,000 m3/day.
Feasibility study activities as well as ESIA activities were carried out including surveying the existing condition of the project components, Data collection on operational parameters and Hydraulic design, preparation of design report, cost assessment BOQ in addition to full ESIA activities.
